relationship timeline
Forge always wanted to see the Steam Knights, so followed RI for the Victoria campaign. He had absolutely no expectations whatsoever and was simply hoping to learn how to build something similar for himself.Once RI partnered with the resistance, Forge would help Feist with maintenance for the Self-Salvation Corps, with Feist eventually inducting him into his squad. They'd stay up late tinkering away, falling asleep among their tools. Some drunk corps members joked about how "everyone is in love with Feist", so Forge didn't realise he'd fallen first. For his part, Feist figured he just really liked having an even closer peer, one who'd entertain his crazy ideas and able to help him with them.Exact details during the campaign itself will need to wait but they definitely spent a lot of time in close proximity. They're best friends first before being stupidly in love w/ each other.
Feist isn't often on the actual landship, busy rebuilding in Victoria and all. He was in a different dorm prior, but the engineering dept. eventually suggested he share with Forge after they unwillingly witness the assorted PDA between them. At this point, they haven't "officially" considered themselves anything like a couple, just continuing their habits from the campaign - finding comfort in each other's presence.
Forge confesses first, though he does so in a 'logical' way: "I've been told I'm in love with you."After Feist recovers from the shock and confesses in turn does Forge really comes to terms with it. It ends up being an incredibly embarrassing memory for himself that Feist can mercilessly tease him over. They somewhat take each other for granted due to how much they trust each other. They're both incredibly stubborn in specific ways: Victoria/Londinium is important to Feist, while Forge needs to go wandering before he considers joining Feist. It's not necessarily a source of major conflict but because they "expect" the other to be there, they have to remember they're still their own people.
Forge does go with Feist eventually but it'd be about 5, even 10 years in the future. In the meantime, they have communicator devices for whenever they're apart they iterate on whenever they get together again.Forge will end his wandering in Iberia, and invites Feist to join him to see the conclusion of it. Once that's done, Forge will be permanently based in Victoria.
